Flying & Gliding

Air Experience Flying

The Air Training Corps offers both powered flight and gliding to all cadets. At 65 Bridgwater Squadron we make
every attempt to fly as much as possible. Flying and Gliding are both very popular activities with cadets.
65 Squadron encourages every cadet to fly at least once a year, sometimes more.

When a cadet flies, he/she is briefed, kitted out with the appropriate flying equipment i.e. Flying Suit, Parachute
and helmet etc. Cadets are taught by qualified RAF or ex RAF instructors and, if weather permits, receive 30
minutes flying instruction when they will be encouraged to take the controls of the aircraft. Cadets are also given
the opportunity to perform aerobatic manoeuvres if they request to.

Gliding Induction Course (GIC)
The GIC has been designed to give you a taste for Air Cadet Gliding. You will be shown various aspects of
gliding, from pitch to roll, with the opportunity to take control and practice what you have learnt.
After you have completed the course, you will be awarded a GIC certificate.
